Rafael Barrios
Rafael Barrios has made significant contributions to art education throughout his nearly forty-year career. He served as Artistic Director for UNESCO in Canada and the Toronto Architectural Association in 1972, and from 1974 to 1977 oversaw advertising and 3D design projects at the Diseño Newmann Institute in Caracas, Venezuela. His artistic philosophy centers on redefining perceptions of gravity and anti-gravity in the 21st century, urging a reconsideration of human existence in space and time. Barrios explores these themes through artworks that blend virtual and real elements, showcasing beauty from diverse visual perspectives. He coined the term "virtual volume" to describe the illusory dimensions in his sculptures, applying geometric principles and color to create spatial dislocations that are both visually captivating and intellectually stimulating.
