Ana Paul

Since childhood, Ana Paúl has been drawn to paper, exploring it personally and instinctively as a medium of transformation. She works with various types of paper, painting and shaping them to create texture, color, volume — crafting natural landscapes, above all, forests. The transformative quality of this humble yet noble material, along with the influence of Eastern aesthetics — their delicacy, mystery, and color sensibility — is the foundation of her work. Nature’s quiet beauty is her endless inspiration, and subtle color and detail are at the heart of her visual language. She uses paper sculpturally to build ethereal compositions — atmospheric pieces that dwell in silence. “Through paper, I can live inside the forest — in silence — transcending urban boundaries.” Trees offer a sense of protection and grounded permanence in this ever shifting world that constantly challenges us. To enter the forest is to deepen our sense of color and awaken a connection to the Earth and ourselves. Her two most recent series, Layered Forest and Silencio, complement one another and define the serene universe she endlessly seeks.

Ana Paúl was born and raised in Barcelona. She lived in Paris for twenty years and now lives between Madrid and Barcelona. Her work has been exhibited in Barcelona, Paris, Los Angeles, Brussels, and Madrid. She created the Christmas Tree project for Hermès and has published the artist book Metro with La Cama Sol Editions. Her pieces are held in private collections in Spain, the United States, France, Singapore, and Australia.
