Duan Zhao
Zhao Duan, born in 1981 in Shenyang, Liaoning, graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, France, in 2010. She currently lives and works in Paris and its suburbs.
Zhao Duan's work often starts from the point of contact and experience, integrating various media to explore the relationship between the body and time. She rethinks this triadic relationship through body, action, and time. Zhao prefers to connect actions and painting through a "tracing" method, aiming to leave behind traces that are rich in inspiration. In her work, painting as a technique and as a poetic action coexist and merge.
In 2012, Zhao Duan won the Michel Journiac Prize in France. Her work is collected by numerous private and public institutions and has been widely exhibited in France and other countries, including the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris, the MAC VAL Museum of Contemporary Art in the Paris region, the MING Contemporary Art Museum in Shanghai, the No Space Gallery in Shenyang, and the Ludwig Museum in Germany.
